We are pleased to announce that we have added Abicor-Binzel Fume Extractor MIG Torches to our equipment rental fleet.
These portable, compact and powerful high-vacuum extraction units FES-200 & FES-200 W3 capture welding fumes directly at the source, protecting both the welder and the environment from harmful particles.
The machines come with an auto start-stop function so that the fume extractor is activated only when welding is in progress. Welding becomes safer, energy consumption is reduced and unecessary noise levels are eliminated.
You can rent these fume extractor welding torches from red-d-arc.uk
We’ll be showing our 1200 Ton rotator at this year’s Schweissen & Schneiden Tradeshow. This addition to our large selection of weld positioning equipment is one of our largest capacity rotators ever built and is just one of several pieces of advanced automation equipment we’ll be showing. Stop by our display and ask one of our experts how weld automation can increase the safety and profitability of your business. We’ll be at Booth D4 in Hall 10.

Red-D-Arc designed and built a custom made column and boom with a boom length of over 9 meters for a leading tank manufacturing company in the Netherlands. The Red-D-Arc facility had to be customized with a raised roof section to accommodate the height of the large column. The raised roof was later opened, allowing for a crane to hoist the manipulator out of the manufacturing facility and then shipped to the customer.
The column and boom was part of a welding system provided by Red-D-Arc. The system featured a compact welding head designed for welding in narrow spaces, touch screen controls and a high resolution weld monitoring system to allow the operator to monitor the welding process from a safe distance.
Trucking companies like Smith Transport need to get at least 12 years out of their trailers. Replacement costs are substantial at over $70,000. In 2007 the US trucking industry began using epoxy coating to protect against corrosion. Over time the epoxy gets broken down by the elements and needs to be stripped to allow for visual inspection and repairs. This is a time consuming process requiring a team of up to 12 workers scraping the coatings for more than a week.
Using the power of the Farrow 150, Smith Transport was able to cut prep time per trailer from weeks down to hours. The protective coatings are stripped from the trucks so that they can be inspected, recoated and returned to service in less time, and at a fraction of the cost. Fleet life is extended, down time reduced, and money is saved. That’s smart business.
Red-D-Arc offers an extensive line of Farrow Coating Removal equipment for sale, lease and rent.
Red-D-Arc designs and builds complete turnkey weld automation packages for your complete project requirements. Our team of engineers and designers develop specialized solutions alongside our customers. We’ll provide you with weld process recommendations and set up all your equipment for optimized reliability, functionality and productivity.
The Red-D-Arc Weld Automation team has extensive industry experience which includes hundreds of special and turnkey installations provided to diverse sectors of industry such as Oil Exploration and Refining, Nuclear Industries, Aerospace, Defense, Steel Mills, Mining and Wind Tower Manufacture. From small positioners for integration with welding robots to 500 tonne capacity positioners with unique HMI controls complete with onsite training, services and support.
Single and tandem (multi-wire and multi-arc) submerged arc welding heads are available for sale, lease and rent. Tandem systems include multi-arc heads with up to 6 welding arcs and multi-wire heads capable of up to 4 wires, all of which are available to accommodate deep groove and narrow gap applications. We have extensive experience designing special purpose, custom welding heads to suit any requirement.
Red-D-Arc’s tandem welding system provides a touch screen interface for data monitoring and provides full welding control. The multi-arc central console system provides control of up to 6 weld heads and allows welding parameters to be saved and downloaded. An ergonomic hand held pendant allows the operator flexibility to observe the weld and adjust parameters “on the fly”.
We were pleasantly surprised to find this incredible video on the National Geographic website. (It’s a bit different from what one might expect i.e. lion, sharks and other natural phenomenon ) The video wonderfully illustrates the power of dry ice blasting. Incredibly, this blasting medium is strong enough to strip hardened tar yet gentle enough to remove the ink from a business card without damaging the paper. Great work by the folks at ColdJet demoing this incredible technique. The video nicely demonstrates just how effective and specific this technique can be.
Red-D-Arc has a number of different dry ice blast cleaning machines available for hire.
Earlier this year, Red-D-Arc delivered several of our MIG/MAG 4-pak and 6-pak multi-operator welding packages to Heerema Fabrication (HFG) for their yards in Zwijndrecht and Flushing, Holland. HFG manufactures complex steel structures for use in the offshore oil and gas industry.
In addition to maintaining high-quality welding standards, HFG was able to increase both worker productivity and safety by employing Red-D-Arc’s multi-operator packs for the welding processes at their fabrication yards. The packs include six welding power sources and wire feeders with gas lines to accommodate up to six individual welders – and each welder has his own 115VAC power supply as well as an airline that provides filtered breathing air to the welder’s helmet. All input power, shielding-gas and breathing-air connections are made via single connections in the pak’s enclosure in order to simplify hook up as well as enhance portability.
“With the multi-packs our operators can get set up faster and start welding immediately. The time savings and increased efficiency easily covers the cost of the packs.”
After receiving their initial order of 6-paks, HFG placed a second order for 4-paks, having recognized the benefits of the system.
Red-D-Arc 4-Pak and 6-Pak MIG/MAG Multi-Operator Welding Packages are available for rent, lease or purchase. Contact Sales to learn more.
Red-D-Arc’s MFUB-TW Modular Fit Up Bed system is specially designed for the construction of thin-wall tanks ranging in size from 10′ to 15′-6″ in diameter. Our patented system is fitted with independently-adjustable vertical-rolls to support, align and compensate for tank non-concentricity when assembling multiple thin-wall sections. There is no need for spider bracing as the system will keep the cans concentric during fit-up and welding.
Each system is supplied with a Motorized Drive Unit (MDU) module connected to up to four Coupled Connection Drive (CCD) modules – depending on the length and number of sections to be joined. The CCD modules are connected to the MDU module by splice couplings and fish-plates at each side of the skid frame so that the wheel drums on all the modules are driven. The system is flexible enough to accommodate various lengths and sections of tanks. The MDU is driven on both wheel drums through a double-reduction heavy-duty worm and wheel gearbox with chain and sprocket through an AC vectored motor.
Each MDU and CCD module is fitted with 4 hydraulic-support-arms (upper link and lower link assemblies) giving 4 points of contact on each side of the work piece along the length of the fabricated tank. Once the tank section is lowered into position on the wheel drums, the support arms, which independently pivot, are moved into position to manipulate the shape of the tank sidewalls. After the tank sections have been welded together, the support arms – which are independently controlled through a solenoid-operated push-button station controlled via hydraulic power pack – can be disengaged and the tank can be removed.
